Why Catholic? Program

Catholics often face opportunities to share their faith with others, but lack the basic knowledge and confidence to do so. Why Catholic? is a rich scriptural and catechetical approach that gives a solid foundation for every Catholic to express their faith and be able to reach out to others in faith.

The Why Catholic? program is designed to highlight select teachings around which faith sharing may take place, by nourishing and strengthening women and men in all callings, Why Catholic? can serve as an essential tool on the journey to mature Christian faith.  We hope that the process will also enable participants to discover and embrace their own personal faith stories and allow them to reflect on, and answer the questions, "What does it mean to be Catholic? How did I become Catholic? Why do I remain Catholic?"

We will explores Catholic teaching with direct quotes from Catechism of the Catholic Church, scriptural references, and reflection questions.

Why Catholic? is also designed to balance prayer, sharing on Scripture, and reflection on the teachings of our faith, providing a full and fruitful faith-sharing experience for participants.  While a prayerful listening to and reflection on Scripture is an integral part of each session, Why Catholic? is not meant to be a scripture study.
The four themes which are to be covered in 48 sessions are Catholic beliefs, sacraments, morality, and prayer. The study will occur in a prayerful small community setting that is a supportive environment for evangelization and adult faith formation.

Why Catholic? is for all ages, married or single, catechist or parent teaching faith to children, a lifelong Catholic or a RCIA candidate or recent entrant to the Church, or just someone seeking answers or new parish friendships. Join us for this journey through the catechism. For more information please contact Jeff Chorba 954-809-5930.
